What is estrogen?

Estrogen is produced in the ovaries and adrenal glands in women and in the testes, adrenal glands and pituitary gland in men. There are three types of estrogen in a woman's body: Estrogen, Estradiol, and Estriol. In women, estrogen is responsible for the growth and development of sexual characteristics. Estrogen stimulates growth of the uterine lining in the first part of the menstrual cycle, helps to regulate cholesterol metabolism and bone growth. In addition, estrogen also boosts libido and sexual desire.

The levels of estrogen falls dramatically at the onset of menopause. Symptoms of low estrogen include:

  • Hot flashes
  • Insomnia
  • Vaginal dryness
  • Decreased libido and sexual desire
  • Bladder problems
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Anxiety
  • Breast tenderness
  • Thin, dry, wrinkled skin

If you have experienced some of the above symptoms, a simple blood test will help us determine if your estrogen levels are low. If so, bioidentical Estrogen hormone replacement may help relieve these symptoms.

What health benefits can Estrogen replacement do for me?

  • Decrease risk of developing osteoporosis and fractures
  • Lower blood cholesterol and raise HDL
  • Protect blood vessels of the heart decreasing risk of heart disease
  • Protect blood vessels of the brain decreasing incidence of Alzheimer's Disease
  • Eliminate hot flashes
  • Improve sleep
  • Improve concentration
  • Increase vaginal lubrication
  • Improve libido and sexual desire
  • Improve sense of well-being

Bioidentical Estrogen may be just what you need. DO not equate natural estrogen with synthetic estrogen (Premarin). Premarin has been shown to increase blood clots, heart attacks and strokes. Bioidentical estrogen (Estradiol) has shown to have none of these harmful effects in numerous research studies. Replenishing estrogen to levels similar to what you had when you were younger will help you feel and function as you did before menopause and will prevent the significant deterioration that occurs from loss of estrogen. And when Estrogen is taken continuously at the right dose designed for you, you will not experience a return of your menses.
